There are two Coconino Community College districts with open board seats to be filled on Election Day, Nov. 8.
The six-year terms are ending on December 31 for Patricia Garcia of District #2 and Marie Peoples of District #3.
Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Risha VanderWey encourages residents to get involved in local education by becoming volunteer school board members.
To be eligible to serve on a college governing board, candidates must be Arizona registered voters and residents of the corresponding board of supervisors district for at least one year prior to the Nov. 8 Election Day. Candidates or their spouses may not be an employee of the college.
To become a candidate, first submit a completed $500 Threshold Exemption form. The filing of the exemption form can be done at any time, but must be done before obtaining any petition signatures or doing any other campaign related tasks. Once filed the prospective candidate will receive a committee ID. Candidate petitions and a nomination paper must be turned in by 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 10.
Nomination packets can be mailed or picked up at the Coconino County Superintendent of Schools at 2384 N. Steves Blvd., Flagstaff, AZ 86004, inside the Ponderosa High School building.
